What is live streaming?

Live streaming is the transmission over the Internet of video of an event as it happens. Streaming is a form of online video in which the site sends video footage to a user's machine "on the fly" rather than as a complete file. It is like the difference between watching a TV show as it airs and watching a DVD.

What do I need to view the videos?

You need a device running a supported operating system, a supported web browser, and speakers. Please see responses below for more details.

Council Meetings are broadcast live in Flash Video format. Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher is recommended for desktop computers and Flash Player 10.1 or higher is recommended for Android devices.

How soon after a Council Meeting will the video be available to watch?

In most cases, once a Council Meeting has concluded, the video will be available to watch online within two business days. These are available in the archive.

Can I download the video of a meeting to keep?

Archived videos can be viewed using Adobe Flash Player and are also available to download in MPEG-4 format, which you can playback on your device with a suitable media player. Most media players are able to play MPEG-4 files.

Wollondilly Shire Council offers on-demand video and audio of Council meetings.

Live streaming allows you to view proceedings via the Internet without the need to attend Council meetings. This gives you greater access to Council decisions and debate and eliminates geographic barriers preventing the public from attending meetings.

From here you will be able to access webcasts of live Council meetings, view archived meetings and follow links to meeting schedules, agendas and minutes.
